OLX will be taking over AyosDito.ph

In a surprising news last Friday, Southeast Asia’s eCommerce scene was rocked when the four media giant company, namely Naspers, Schibsted Media Group, Telenor Group, and Singapore Press holdings (SPH) put at a truce in their rivalry and decided to join forces instead. There are four Asian countries affected by this change: Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Bangladesh.

In the Philippines, OLX.ph (previously sulit.com.ph) is owned by Naspers while AyosDito.ph is owned by 701Search (a joint venture between SPH and Schibsted) which means once the merger deal is complete, AyosDito.ph will cease its operations redirecting all their site traffic, apps, and users to OLX.ph giving OLX dominance over the country’s online classified ads network as the remaining 2 competitors (TipidPC and TipidCP) focuses more on tech products.

“Mas Ayos dito sa OLX”

The said changes will start to happen after they receive approval from the European Commission and complete the transaction, which they hope to be finalized by January 2015. Until then, business are run as usual for all parties.
